[POSTPONED] Spring 2020, Dublin (New Live Show)

  • Opium 26 Wexford Street Portobello, County Dublin, D02 HX93 Ireland (map)

Following a blistering national tour last Autumn, 8-piece Urban Street Funk band STOMPTOWN BRASS are back with a brand new live show to kick off the 2020 festival season! Go on…

Stomptown Brass Buckfast

Since their inception, Stomptown Brass have shocked and delighted audiences across Ireland and abroad. Through countless festival appearances and themed shows, they have built and maintained a status as one of the country’s most unique and dynamic ensemble acts. Blending cinematic soundscapes, driving rhythms and groovy drops, the impressive band line-up of two Drummers, two Trombones, two Trumpets, one Sax and a big dirty Tuba are known to put on a serious racket to get any crowd on their feet.

When the band aren’t performing raucous slots at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Another Love Story, Kaleidoscope, Sea Sessions, Indiependence or Longitude, they’re known to create unique and spectacular theatrical productions to captivate fresh audiences.

In ‘Requiem for the Truth’, the band held a New Orleans jazz funeral for the truth, selling out back-to-back shows at Dublin Fringe, Norway Fringe, Cork Jazz and Waterford Imagine Arts festivals, along with two nights at Dublin’s Pepper Canister Church, each night parading the truth in its coffin to a location nearby for a street party.

With ‘Curious Eyes & Ears’, the band produced a multi-faceted kids show that demonstrated the foundations of music theory in a novel and interactive way, after hosting a national kids competition to perform with the band on stage at Meeting House Square in Temple Bar, Dublin.

This Spring, STOMPTOWN BRASS are back to kick off the campaign for their debut album (set to drop in 2021) with a headline show in the newly renovated OPIUM in Dublin. With even more drums and a brand new set of cinematic brassy tunes, this is not a show to miss!

(Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster. All tickets are valid for free entry to Whelan’s after the gig.)
